Hello everyone.
I will share some of my experience from the visit of Tamhini Ghat.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE:
Tamhini ghat is a full pack of rain, greenery, mountains, clouds, waterfalls and a bunch of magnificent clicks all around.
It is a place where a photographer can enrich his skills, a hiker can learn more about hiking, a youngster can experience the nature like never before, bikers can get the thrill of driving on wet roads, couples can enjoy their quality time and old age people can relieve their old days.
LOCATION:
It is a mountain passage between Mulshi and Tamhini. Situated on the crest of the Western Ghat mountain range. It is 59 kms away from Pune railway station. Time to reach here from Pune railway station is around 110 minutes.
BEST TIME TO TRAVEL:
The name itself suggests that it is a valley, and valley glows up with beauty in monsoon season. So, best time to travel here is in monsoon season. Here you can get, passing through clouds experience and can witness a number of waterfalls during monsoon. So, best months to travel is: Mid June to August
You can also travel here in winter season, from December to Mid February. Avoid going here in summer season, as there will be no active waterfall and heat during summers is around 35-40 degrees in this region.
BUDGET:
The main question for any trip or location, is the budget. What will be the cost of this trip?
Well, you will be happy to know that the price range to travel here is very minimal. You maybe living in any part of India, but the price range is very minimal for everyone. If you start from Pune Railway Station and go till Tamhini ghat, the one day round trip (includes going and coming back on the same day) will cost you around 3,000 to 5,000. This includes charges of taxi and some snacks in between.
Luckily state bus also goes to this location. So, if you travel by state bus then the trip will cost you under 2,500 only. But you won't be able to stop and click pictures anywhere you want. Also, the time of reaching and returning won't be fixed.
So, I advice you to travel by private vehicle or taxi.
THINGS TO TAKE ALONG:
1. Offline maps:
Have this app in your mobile before starting the trip, because this area has network issues.
2. Selfie stick or tripod:
For photography lovers, this things are must.
3. Raincoat:
If you travel here during monsoons, then make sure to take raincoat with you.
4. Extra clothes:
The area is full of waterfalls and small lakes, so make sure to take extra clothes with you.
5. Food and water:
It is a hilly area, so food and water is not available everywhere. Also, shops on roadsides charges too much.
You can include other things according to your preference and convenience.
TIPS:
Check the weather forecast of Tamhini ghat, before going. You can check it on google. Bikers avoid going there if there is a chance if severe rain.
New/Learning drivers should not drive here. As the road is full of sharp turns and are wet.
Don't limit yourself after viewing just 1 waterfall, there are plenty of waterfalls waiting for you ahead. Witness them all.
Don't stuck around clicking photos, enjoy the view and feel the nature.
There are number of resorts and hotels in the way. You may get a good experience by staying in there.
Avoid parking your vehicle in muddy area, as it may get stucked in there.
Avoid taking any valuable things.
